Changes coming?

So, there are going to be some changes around the website. After two years of coaching, it has become clear that I have an underserved audience—those of you who were me a few years ago. Perimenopausal women deserve information that I was not given—especially those who are active and plan on not going quietly into old age. I believe the diet and medical community have failed to prepare us for perimenopause or menopause, especially perimenopause. Menopause is cake comparatively. How did I not know what was coming? Why did I not know? Why do I gain weight during menopause? How do I lose weight during menopause?

The menopause manifesto

I want to live in a world where women know what is coming their way and can be prepared for perimenopause. I want women to have the knowledge to age strong, healthy, and gracefully. Women in their 40’s and beyond are not to be forgotten. We have half our lives left to go. What worked for us with diet and exercise in our 20’s doesn’t necessarily work anymore, but the industry lies and tells us it is our fault when it doesn’t? That’s f’d up. Eating less and working out more can be detrimental to our health and well-being at this stage. Yet, it is always thrown in our faces when we ask about that middle girth gain. What is the best diet for menopause? It is the one that works for you.

What works for you?

You can survive perimenopause and thrive through it, moving on to the more carefree years of menopause. I believe we have the right to choose how we would like to navigate our mid-lives and beyond, but we have to be able to make educated decisions. Take supplements, take hormone replacement, take antidepressants, continue with birth control, tough it out? There are lots of options to be explored. We are all different, and what worked for me may not work for you, but you can arm yourself with education to make decisions applicable to your individual experience. There should be no judgment on your choices as they are yours.

Some things about midlife you cannot change, but others you have complete control over. It isn’t just about nutrition. Your lifestyle, including stress reduction, sleep, movement, mindset, and how you hold yourself accountable, are essential – the pillars – to navigating perimenopause and beyond. I intend to provide you the information you need to make decisions that fit your life within this framework.

You don’t have to lose your sex life, get fat, give in to being frumpy. You don’t have to let stress control your life. You deserve to get a good night’s sleep. That stupid scale is nothing but a measurement relative to the pull of gravity. This is when you should start having less f’s to give about so many things. This is not a disease or something you need to be cured of. It is a natural process that you have to make peace with. I promise, on the other side, life is better.
