Do You Let The Number on the Scale Define You?

by | Jun 20, 2018

So, I am a work in process.

I have been steadily increasing my calories since the first week of February. Today, I weighed in at 10 pounds heavier than I was then, but I’m also eating 150 calories more per day.

Not freaking out – OK, just slightly. Why? Other factors:

  1. I measure myself once a week on Wednesday morning. My average of chest, waist and hip measurements has gone up exactly one half of one inch.
  2. I’m sleeping better than ever.
  3. I’ve hit my old PR numbers on press and deadlift from when I was way younger and much heavier.
  4. I recently left full-time employment, so my daily step count has decreased.
  5. My weight can fluctuate four pounds day to day based on my training, salt intake, stress, and sleep.

Tip – I have weighed myself daily for over 600 days. Along about day 200-and-something the power that number had over me died. It is just a number. All those other things mean more to me and should to you as well. You are not a number, you are a person.

So, what’s next? I think I am ready to try a mini-cut.
